Assembly
The school day begins with assembly. All the children
come together to join hands, sing and welcome the day, reinforcing their
sense of community and increasing confidence in social situations. The
school curriculum includes many opportunities for classes to come together
as a community of learners.

Learning Circle
During group time, children work on cross-curricular
theme related activities. They are actively involved in the learning process
that is fostered in an atmosphere of curiosity, invention and collaboration.
Children develop skills in listening, oral language, critical thinking,
problem-solving, early literacy, and interactive skills. Children are
challenged within the scope of their abilities and experience the joy
of learning.

Activity Period
Learning takes place when children are engaged in
enjoyable, meaningful activities. Classroom projects are creative, offering
students opportunity to explore new ideas and challenging them to develop
flexible and imaginative thinking processes. Children work and play in
well-planned activities that expand their understanding of themselves
and others, their knowledge of the physical world, and their ability to
communicate with peers and adults.

French
The French programme introduces songs, games, music
and movement to pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students. Learning French
using kinesthetic, visual and auditory modes facilitates basic comprehension
and production of language similar to first language learning. Kindergarten
students have the opportunity to explore a familiar fairy tale through
drama and assisted re-telling, allowing them to experience language in
a fun and meaningful way.

Physical Education
e.p.i.c. students participate in a weekly gym
programme developing a wide variety of large motor skills. The approach
is implemented in a co-operative, non-competitive environment that

Field Trips
Field trips and fun days related to classroom learning
are regularly incorporated into the programme. A 50's style sock hop on
the 50th day of school, a beach day in January and pajama day in February,
all appeal to young children's innate love of learning and support fresh
and exciting learning adventures. Field trips to the theatre, farm, and
art gallery are chosen to enrich the programme.

Volunteers
Parent participation in school activities is welcome.
There are many opportunities for parent involvement, such as joining the
parent association, accompanying
field trips and working on the yearbook committee. e.p.i.c. families help
to organize special events such as the Halloween party, which includes
a play dramatized by students parents and the year-end party. This spirit
of cooperation makes e.p.i.c. School a wonderful and special place to
be.
